Disney 100 Years of Wonder Phantom 2023 Kakawow
The base set has 180 cards and is entirely character-driven. From Mickey and his pals to several decades of princesses to villains to Pixar additions to a handful of live-action inclusions from the last decade, it’s one of the most comprehensive single releases for any set of Disney trading cards.
Beyond that, there’s the design. Printed on chromium stock, even the standard base cards have a premium edge to them. It’s commonplace among modern sports card sets with all of the major sports having multiple chrome releases each year. Even in entertainment, it’s becoming increasingly common. But even going back to the 1990s, chromium was fairly common in this corner of the hobby — just not with Mickey and company.
Part of modern chrome’s appeal is the focus on parallels that offer limited edition spins on standard cards. All 180 Disney 100 Years of Wonder base cards have two such spins, Silver (1:2 packs) and Fireworks (/100). In addition to these are a handful of partial parallel sets. The 144 cards featuring animated characters get the Die-Cut treatment (1:10 packs). For those looking for even more rarity, there are 72 cards for both Gold (/10) and, the ultimate chase in the product, Black (1/1).

The 2023 Kakawow Phantom Disney 100 Years of Wonder delves even further into the premium hobby realm with more inserts.
While getting autographs from fictional characters seems odd unless you’re at one of the Disney theme parks, Signature takes the idea. Each of these has a facsimile gold autograph printed on the card. It’s interesting to look at the “penmanship” of various characters. Thirty-six cards are in the set, each serial-numbered to 100.
Other insert sets include Eternal Force (18 cards, /20), Retro Posters (36 cards, /99), Wonder (36 cards, /125), Platinum (18 cards, /225), Chinese Zodiac Signs (12 cards, /666), Anniversary World Stamp (46 cards, 1:10 packs), and Classic Reunion (46 cards, 1:10 packs), which have several characters from the same movie.
According to Kakawow, a total of 4,000 hobby cases of Disney 100 Years of Wonder were produced. The card maker is based in China and their license allows them to only distribute there. However, the product has since expanded to a global audience including in North America.
